This week, we’re taking a closer look at whiplash injuries. We thought we’d break up the text a little with a few really great whiplash videos that we’ve found.
This first video (from MattLaw) does a great job of explaining why the impact from an accident can cause so much damage to our bodies. Rapid acceleration followed by rapid deceleration can subject the body to extreme levels of pressure. As the body absorbs the shock of an impact, it can sustain serious damage. The video explains that this damage is not limited to the spine–it can also cause symptoms of TBI or traumatic brain injury.
Our bodies are complicated systems. A sudden change to one part can affect the whole thing. We like this whiplash video from Doug Kennedy because it takes a detailed look at some of the ways different parts of the body can be affected by whiplash.
It can be difficult to visualize the effects of whiplash on the body. That’s why we like this video from Todd Lloyd, a Utah based Chiropractor. Lloyd’s video explains why crumple zones can change the amount of pressure your spine feels after a collision.
Treatment after an auto accident can be arduous. We like this last video because it looks at treatment in three distinct phases. Your healthcare team will be able to explain your treatment to you in a similar manner to the way the chiropractor in the video above does. By looking at the whole process, you’ll have an easier time dealing with the ups and downs of any treatment regimen.
We hope you’ve enjoyed these whiplash videos. Friday, we’ll take a closer look at some of the factors that can influence the severity of your injuries.
