Maybe you’ve seen a story about an accident in the workplace on the local news. Maybe a coworker or a loved one was injured on the job. It’s hard to talk about workplace injuries, because so much of what we do at work is so difficult to explain. We wanted to share a workplace injury video or two, and start a conversation about all of the ways you can get hurt on the clock.
This old cartoon is full of safety truisms. You’ve probably heard an “ounce of prevention” and other phrases like it before. We think that while it’s a little silly, this cartoon makes an important point. When you’re at work it’s important to remember to concentrate. If your job involves moving heavy machinery, you need to be alert.

I think that most people think workplace injuries are a lot like the one explored in the news report above.
While it’s tempting to think that the majority of workplace injuries are the stuff of Hollywood movies, the truth is most are not.
We like this video because it tells a far less sensational workplace injury story than you normally hear on the news.
According to some sources, up to 25% of workplace injuries actually involve the hands.
You won’t be able to avoid all of the threats. Accidents happen–even to the intentioned teams.
That’s why staying alert on the job is so critical.

While this video takes a little bit of artistic license, we think it makes one powerful point.
If you can stay alert and pay attention to your surroundings, your risk of workplace injury declines dramatically.
